Lobby of the Nation’s Hotel
Treasure Hunters Gallery is housed in what was the lobby of the National Hotel in downtown Richmond Texas.
The hotel was once owned and operated by Carry Nation (1846 – 1911), the famous temperance movement leader who is often pictured carrying a hatchet.
In 1881, Carry and her husband bought and moved into the twenty-room, wood framed National Hotel just a block away from the railroad and across from the Richmond courthouse.
It is said that the building is haunted with ghosts who frequent the lobby and halls of the hotel upstairs. Treasure Hunters often welcomes guests who come in our store for ghost tours.
Don’t worry the ghosts seem to be friendly.
